3rd INTERNATIONAL MUSEUMWORKERS DAY

Formerly Int’l Hug A Museumworker Day )

Mauritshuis, The Hague, Den Hagen, The Netherlands, Hug a museum worker - hamuseumw - museumviews - homa taj (1)

fullsizerender-1On Monday June 29th, 2015, thousands of museums, museums associations, and museum professionals in more than thirty countries celebrated the 1st International Hug A Museum Worker Day (now INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM WORKERS DAY).

An advocacy project of MUSEUMVIEWS, the idea of an International Hug A Museum Worker Day emerged from a combination of an equally fun and yet informative project (Hug A Medievalist) and Homa’s experiences as an academically trained museologist, and a filmmaker.

As of Tuesday June 30, 2015, #HAMuseumw (hashtag, alone!) had generated 4,9 million impressions on Twitter (via Hashtracking). This number excludes all other engagements across social media (Twitter, Faceboo, Tumblr and Instagram).

Following the 2nd International Hug A Museum Worker Day (June 29, 2016), we have decided to change the title of the project to the INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM WORKERS DAY, scheduled to take place annually on June 29. The 3rd event is scheduled for June 29, 2017.
