Here is yet another reason to schedule a visit to the Austrian Film Archives. One of Europe’s formost institutions of its kind, the Archive is holding a retrospective of films by the classic comedy duo Laurel and Hardy. Celebrated for their edgy, slapstick and even at time physically violent humour, the Anglo-British duo defied traditional (or often any kind of) narrative while creating an entertainment style that was copied by numerous other comedic acts.
The Austrian Filmarchiv’s collections comprise over 100,000 film prints, 2,000,000 photos & film stills, some 25,000 film programmes, more than 10,000 posters, approximately 30,000 books, as well as an extensive collection of film-related objects including documents, machinery, cinema fixtures, scripts, costumes etc.
Laurel and Hardy (Program in Pdf) that will run until January 8, 2012.

Hardy died at 65 in ’57, which is 75 backwards, Laurel died at 75 in ’65, which is the age when Hardy died in ’57, which is 75 backwards, which is the age when Laurel died, in ’65, at age 75, which is ’57 backwards, which is when Hardy died, at age 65, to infinity to the tenth power, which is how long Laurel & Hardy will continue entertaining a world in need of laughter … if we have anything to do with it!
